Q: How long do I have to return or exchange an item?
A: You may return any unused item(s) within 45 days for an exchange or refund.
Q: What is the procedure to return or exchange an item(s)?
A: Clearly indicate on your invoice if you are returning or exchanging. If exchanging, clearly indicate the product you wish to exchange for. For returned item(s), Up North Sports will refund the cost of the item, but not the original shipping charge.
Q: Will I get a full refund?
A: While original shipping charges are non-refundable, you qualify for a full refund on the price paid for the item(s) if returned in original condition (clean—no hair or dirt), with the original packaging intact and any tags or protective materials still attached. Any item returned with the tags removed, original packaging not useable, or not in original condition will either be returned or incur an appropriate restocking fee determined by UNS. Shipping fees will be charged if an item needs to be returned to you.
Q: How should I pack a return or exchange?
A: When returning an item, please use the original shipping carton and pack the item(s) securely. Do not use the manufacturer’s packaging for a shipping box. Enclose the invoice with an explanation for the return or exchange. Ship the package prepaid as we do not except returned items COD. We recommend shipping your package by a traceable method as we are not responsible for lost packages.
Q: If I received an item for free with my order, do I need to return the free item?
A: Yes, “free” items received with the original order are to be included with your return. If you choose to keep the free item, your refund will be reduced by the unreturned item's retail price.
Q: What happens if an item being returned or exchanged is damaged?
A: Any item returned in a damaged condition will be reviewed by Up North Sports to determine how the damage occurred. If it is determined that the damage was caused by the shipper, Up North Sports will work with the shipper to recover the costs of the damage. If it is determined that the damage was caused by the purchaser, then the cost of the damage will be the responsibility of the original purchaser. Causes for damage may include improper packaging, improper handling, alteration of the item, etc. A reasonable value of the damage will be determined by Up North Sports and that value will be recovered from either the shipper or the customer.
Q: What is the shipping rate on my order?
A: Up North Sports calculates shipping charges based on the total price of the submitted order. You can calculate shipping based on your zip code after you place items in your shopping cart, as well as before you place your order.

Q: How do I know what clothing size to order?
A: Fit will vary by manufacturer. Check out our Clothing Sizing Charts to find the manufacturer of the snowmobile gear you’re interested in purchasing.
Q: How should I layer up for cold weather?
A: Start with a base layer rated for cold-weather use. Thermal clothing from companies such as FXR and KLIM are made for power sports like snowmobiling, allowing you to stay comfortable no matter what the temperatures drop to in winter. Look for fabrics that contain Merino for maximum warmth when wet.
Q: What are the benefits of a mid-layer jacket?
A: A softshell mid-layer jacket can provide an extra layer of warmth while snowmobiling, or it can serve as light outerwear on warmer days on or off the trails. Choose one with a zipper so you can easily remove a layer and get back to your sled.
Q: What are the advantages of a one-piece snowsuit?
A: Ah, the monosuit debate. Chances are, you’re curious about the advantages of a one-piece snowsuit versus a traditional jacket and pants. The most obvious benefit is convenience. With a monosuit, you only have to worry about one outer layer to keep you dry out on the trails. And while a two-piece suit can protect you from the elements, a one-piece version will better protect the torso.
Q: How do I determine which helmet to buy?
A: Wearing a helmet while snowmobiling is a must, but you need to find one that’s just right. It shouldn’t be too tight so that it’s uncomfortable, or too loose that it obstructs your line of sight. Check out our Helmet Size Chart for popular brands like HJC, Bell and KLIM.
Q: How do electric helmet shields work?
A: An electric shield is powered in one of two ways: either a battery pack or a single-cable wire that easily connects to your sled’s accessory outlet. Either way, you’ll enjoy the benefit of an unencumbered line of sight with the anti-fogging properties a heated shield provides. Find out more about how this type of snowmobile helmet works.
Q: How should I dress for ice fishing?
A: Cold-weather fishing means you need to dress for often frigid temps. A portable ice house and heater will help keep you warm once you’re out on the ice, but it can get cold fast during that half-mile hike out to your fishing spot. A Striker Ice Hardwater Jacket provides you with maximum protection no matter what the weather conditions, but also keeps you cool with skin venting construction. The right choice of footwear can also make your trek out on to the ice safe and easy.
Q: What jacket should I wear for ice fishing?
A: Be prepared for anything with a safety jacket that provides protection from the elements along with important flotation features. Brands like Ice Armor and Striker Ice use proprietary lining systems that offer flotation assistance should you fall into the water. Also be sure to look for jacket that provides insulation for warmth, combined with a ventilation system to keep you dry on the long trek out to your portable ice house.
Q: How do I know when it’s time to sharpen or replace the blades on my ice auger?
A: If you’re auger isn’t cutting through the ice as fast as it used to, there’s a good chance you need to sharpen the blades. Here at Up North Sports, you have the option of purchasing a blade sharpener along with your auger so you can stay on top of keeping your investment working properly. If your blades have seen better days, you can purchase replacement blades and other ice fishing auger accessories. Just be sure to properly reinstall the blades, or your auger won’t cut through the ice correctly.
