KLIM - Patterning & Lining
Snowmobiling Clothing That Protects and Still Lets You Move Easily
Correct patterning is essential in making sure riding clothing allows you to move the way you need to move. With correct patterning you will find that your clothing will work with you, not against you, reducing muscle fatigue and increasing overall comfort great for recreation or racing.
WHAT IS COMFORT MAPPING?
HOW WE INCREASE YOUR LEVEL OF COMFORT
In traditional clothing, the garment liner is a uniform piece of fabric that treats the varied thermal requirements of different parts of the body the same. At KLIM, our Comfort Mapping Technology allows us to create a garment liner that meets the specific needs of each region of the body. Since we understand these differing needs, we carefully integrate varying degrees and types of insulating materials into strategic areas of the clothing. This helps effectively manage the body’s thermal requirements by allowing better breathability in those areas that need to breathe, and better thermal protection in those areas that need to be protected. This ensures you will experience the most comfortable temperature level in any condition without sacrificing mobility.
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
The body is very sophisticated when it comes to controlling and regulating its thermal requirements. Different regions of the body play different roles in this regulation. Some parts are designed to allow heat to escape while others insulate and protect vital organs from excessive cold. The goal of Comfort Mapping is to understand these requirements and design clothing that enhances the body’s natural processes.
THREE REGIONS
- HIGH THERMAL RETENTION
These areas are exposed to wind-chill and thermal transfer. To counteract these effects, thermal retention in these areas is greatest. - MEDIUM THERMAL RETENTION
For zones that do not require maximum heat retention and to minimize bulk, a medium weight liner is used to allow some heat retention and maximize breathability. - LOW THERMAL RETENTION
To promote maximum breathability and comfort, some areas have minimal thermal retention allowing moisture and unwanted heat to escape.
THREE LAYER TECHNOLOGY
Three Layer Construction plays a vital role in applying comfort mapping to the clothing. A three-layer fabric is made up of three different pieces of material that each have a specific purpose. These three layers are laminated together to form on integrated piece. The outer fabric or face fabric is usually a durable piece of nylon that protects the riding gear. The middle layer is a GORE-TEX® membrane that is durably waterproof and breathable. The inner layer or backer is where a user really benefits from Comfort Mapping. A thicker inner layer is used in areas where the body needs more insulation. Likewise, a thinner material is used in areas that tend to build up a lot of heat. With this exclusive KLIM technology, we are able to control the thermal properties of the garment and create the world’s most comfortable, technical and durable piece of gear.
FF Technology
Exclusive to Klim snow gear is a revolutionary technology that uses the latest in patterning, and construction to create superior performing product. Known as Fast Forward Technology, it does two things. First, it creates a rider specific fit and second, it increases ease of mobility allowing the rider to ride harder and longer with less fatigue.
Specifically relating FF technology to our clothing means understanding what it takes to design clothing for a fast forward sport like snowmobiling. Parkas and pullovers receive aggressive articulation in the sleeves and elbows which decreases bulk and gives an increased amount of mobility. Action back patterning allows the armholes to be brought slightly forward allowing for a more rider specific cut. Pleats to the shoulders create extended range of movement making sure that the rider's movement is not restricted.
With FF Technology bibs and pants are outfitted with over exaggerated articulation in the knees and legs allowing non-restrictive movement whether sitting or standing. A gusseted crotch along with a rider specific cut in the seat of the bibs and pants maximum range of movement with no binding or bunching up.
Aggressive Patterning
Patterned and constructed with all the necessary features to meet today's aggressive rider. Close attention has been paid to sleeves, elbows, legs and knee to insure maximum mobility and comfort.
LINER
The liners of our outerwear are designed to maximize moisture transmission to keep you dry and comfortable. Our liners also serve to help with the riders thermal requirements, keeping the rider at the right temperature
High Activity Liner
Is designed with the most aggressive rider in mind. This Klim racing liner will help transmit unwanted moisture produced by your body away keeping you dry and comfortable while allowing built up heat from hard riding to escape.
Thermal Regulation
Its first priority is to effectively manage the rider's thermal requirements keeping the rider at a comfortable temperature when conditions are persistently colder or activity level is not as aggressive. It is also efficient at moisture management
